Overview

It is estimated that 1 in 8 women will develop a thyroid disorder in their lifetime, with incidence peaking between the ages of 40 and 60. Further, standard lab ranges reflect what is statistically “normal”, not necessarily what’s optimal for every patient. Thyroid imbalance can result in a myriad of symptoms such as abnormal weight loss or gain, fatigue, heat or cold intolerance, hair thinning, decreased libido, anxiety, constipation or diarrhea, and many others. Similar to weight management and non-thyroid hormone optimization, symptom management is highly individualized and achieved through a combination of both subjective and objective data.

How it Works

At your comprehensive initial visit we’ll discuss your specific concerns related to your thyroid, your personal medical history, family medical history, lifestyle, sleep, diet, and other key factors that can influence thyroid function. Pregnancy can also often affect thyroid function, and optimizing during this time is beneficial for both maternal and fetal health. We’ll obtain a full set of thyroid labs, not simply TSH and free T4, and then finalize your plan of care. Subsequent labs will be obtained as needed in order to appropriately adjust our interventions, and follow-up cadence would be expected to taper to being relatively infrequent.
